Meet the Founder – Ann Wangui Irura

Ann Wangui Irura is a passionate advocate for disability inclusion, youth empowerment, and sports for development. With over nine years of experience working with children with special needs, she founded Golden Tee Inclusive Golf to open up the world of golf to persons with disabilities—creating a space where everyone belongs and has the opportunity to thrive. Ann is a certified Special Olympics golf coach, a US Kids Golf Level 1 & 2 certified coach, and a trained Game On Autism golf program provider under the Ernie Els Foundation. Her work has empowered athletes with intellectual and physical disabilities to compete both locally and internationally, including leading Kenya’s girls’ golf team to a gold medal at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin 2023. She has also played a key role in nurturing some of Kenya’s most promising golfers with disabilities—helping them secure world rankings and participate in major events such as the South African Disabled Golf Open and the Macau Golf Masters. Driven by a vision of inclusion and impact, Ann continues to lead Golden Tee in hosting accessible golf clinics, building partnerships, and using sport as a tool for social change. She is a proud member of Rotary International and currently serves as a board member of Light for the World Kenya.
